　　我们经常在网上戏称自己是“吃瓜群众”不过，在英文中并没有“吃瓜”这个概念，所谓的“瓜”其实通常是热点新闻、八卦事件(gossip; news; scoop)或明星的绯闻、私事，在英文中吃瓜群众可以用这些说法来表达netizen(s) / internet user(s)。

　　我们所说的“吃瓜群众”通常是活跃的网民，可以直接理解为“网友”，所以国外媒体经常使用这两种表达spectator(s) 观众，旁观者。
